If Any

Posted on Posted in devotions
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like –minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.” Philippians 2:1-2 (NIV)

These verses are a precursor to imitating and having the attitude of Christ. There are four “if any’s” in verse one – encouragement, comfort from his love, fellowship with the Spirit and tenderness and compassion. These verses emphasize the unity that should exist among Christians. With the same love, being like-minded in one spirit and purpose, we should share these with others. Being united with Christ is to be in an intimate personal relationship with Christ, Our Savior. From this relationship and fellowship with Him flows the fruit of encouragement, comfort, fellowship, tenderness and compassion.  We may not have experienced all of these benefits in our relationship yet with Christ, but if we have experienced any of these in our relationship with Christ then we, being like-minded, in love, spirit and purpose should share these same gifts with others. So, if God has encouraged you, comforted you with his love, been there for you or showed his tenderness and compassion, it is His desire that we do the same for others.

Father God, I thank You for encouraging me, comforting me when I needed it and being present in showing your tenderness and compassion to me. Because of Your great love, mercy and kindness, I pray God that You would show me how and give me the courage to show others the same. In His Humble Name, Amen!

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
