I’m Gonna Be Ready

Posted on Posted in devotions

Sight beyond what I see
You know what’s best for me
Prepare my mind, prepare my heart
For whatever comes, I’m gone’ be ready

Strength to pass any test
I feel like I’m so blessed
With you in control, I can’t go wrong
‘Cause I always know, I’m gonna be ready

This morning I woke up with this song in my spirit. I wasn’t sure why, but as I began to think about my current situation God reminded me of some things I’ve been praying for. Many times we pray about things we want but never bother to ask ourselves if we are ready to receive them.

In one of my previous devotionals I spoke about preparation. If we are asking God for a million dollars but have no desire to bless others that could be the reason for his delay. If you are
praying for a house but have no desire to keep it maintained that could be the reason for his delay.

Are you praying for a spouse? God has a design of how marriage should work. You must know how to love unconditionally. Many of us have a bad habit of wanting to put boundaries on
things we are willing to deal with in a marriage. Unconditional means without limits. In life we learn from others. As you look back I’m sure you’ve had to deal with some difficult people.

How did you love that difficult mother or abusive father? How did you love that friend that betrayed or lied on you?

How did you love the first husband that abused and cheated on you?

Were you able to forgive them in the end and keep moving? So my question is, Are you ready?

Have you completely surrendered your all to God? Are you walking by faith and not by sight?

We won’t always see the next steps, but we have to trust that God is already there. Please keep in mind that God’s thoughts are not our thoughts nor are his ways our ways. That spouse may not look the way you imagined, that car may not come off of a brand new lot, that child may not come from your womb, but you have to lose sight of what you want and be ready for God to bless you the way that he sees fit. There is no doubt that God is going to do what he says he is
going to do.

Whatever you asked for in prayer be ready to receive it on His time and in his way. Your picture could be painted wrong.

Prayer: Father we thank you for the gift of time and preparation. As we continue to wait patiently for you, help us to use this time wisely so we can be ready for the things you have promised us.
Help us to understand that you have our best interest at heart in every situation. Amen
