“For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” Hebrews 10:36
I remember many years ago my father brought home a brand new Lexus he’d purchased. The first thing I wanted him to do was drop me off at school in his new car at the front entrance, so everyone could see. He drove that car around and enjoyed every minute of it until he heard Holy Spirit say, “I didn’t tell you to get this car. You need to return it.” My mother later came to him and said, “This car is too much for us right now. Take it back.”
He didn’t want to return it, but he knew if he didn’t he’d be in trouble…with God and my mother. So he went back to the car dealership and handed them the keys. The dealer said, “You can’t do this! You already signed the contract. You have to keep it or it will be reported as a voluntary repossession.” My father responded, “Do what you have to do, but I cannot keep this car.” Then he handed over the keys and walked out of the dealership…without being penalized.
Two years later as he and my mom were preparing to go to ministry school and answer the call of God on their lives, they received a phone call from a couple that felt led to bless them. They went to the couples house, not knowing what it was they wanted to give them. When they got there, the couple handed them the keys and title to a fully paid for Lexus!
Anytime God tells us to wait, it’s because He is preparing something good for us that supersedes anything we can make happen for ourselves. Pursue the LORD and He will cause His blessings to pursue you.
Prayer: Father God, you are so good and faithful. You always keep your promises. Help me to trust and obey you. As I pursue you, cause your blessings and favor to pursue me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
