Let Peace Rule

Posted on Posted in devotions

“And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].” Colossians 3:15 (AMP)

The peace of God is the umpire of our hearts. He calls every thought, idea or pending decision safe or unsafe. He gives red lights that provide us with caution and green lights that let us know that it is ok to proceed. Often in our lives, we tend to override God’s peace, and we later find ourselves saying, “Something told me not to do that”. Well, that wasn’t something. That was Someone. The peace of God is your safe guide and He will never lead you to do something that goes against God’s word.

Just as you would get to know a new friend, become better acquainted with peace. Let it call every thought, idea, or pending decision safe or unsafe. Invite the peace of God into your moment by moment life, and let it rule as umpire of your heart.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for being the umpire of my heart. I pray your peace reigns and rules in my life. Even in the midst of chaos, flood me with your peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. Sometimes, we get too busy with the struggles and worries of this world. I am a big example of a person that worries too much! Of course when we worry about things we aren’t driven by the peace of God. And we know that anxiety, fear and worry are not from him. It has taken me a long time to fully grasp (and I am still learning) the peace that God gives and has spoken over our lives. I am in a place where I am finally feeling his peace rule over my mind and my heart. There is nothing that I can worry about without reminding myself of the word and promises that God speaks over our lives.
What I am saying is, it is not an easy thing not to worry, be fearful or have anxiety about anything. But ladies, trust that the Lord is here for US! Trust that he will continue to carry us through anything we go through and that he LOVES US. We are his daughters, and when we begin to see ourselves in the likeness of our father, we can begin to transform into the beautiful butterflies that we are meant to transform into.
    Much blessings!!!!
