“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!” Psalms 111:10
While talking with a dear friend one day, I asked her what she wanted most in life. She responded, “I want to be a wise woman.” Her words made my heart leap! We both sat there understanding exactly what she meant.
If I were to put my hand on a hot stove, I will burn my hand instantly and become wiser to not touch it anymore. Or someone could tell me, “Don’t touch the stove or it will burn you. It’s hot”. If I listen to their advice, I’m wiser to have listened. However, if I continue to touch a hot stove, looking for a way to touch it without it burning me, I show myself to be a fool.
And this is life. We are looking for how we can do things our way, without it burning us. This is insanity. We must grow wiser from every experience God allows us to go through. He wants to make us wise, so He gave us Jesus who has been made unto us wisdom. The more we learn of Him and obey Him, the wiser we will be. Wisdom is applied knowledge.
Challenge: Think of an area in your life that you want to be wiser in. Take this area to God and ask for wisdom. Then do what He reveals to you.
Prayer: Father God, I’m sorry for any foolishness in my heart. I want to be a wise woman. Grow me in wisdom, and mature me. Help me to learn from every experience You’ve allowed me to go through. In Jesus name, Amen.
