Lose the Ego

Thus says the Lord: let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might; nor let the rich man glory in his riches; but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NKJV)

Although we are gifts in this world, we are not God’s greatest gift to humanity, Jesus is. It is because of His grace, His power, His love and His anointing that we are able to do anything worth anything to God. Our value and worth exists in who we are in Christ. Alone, our righteousness is as filthy rags and our greatest accomplishments are worthless. We must not get caught up in ourselves and our own importance. It is God’s Spirit that enriches us. He adds value to our lives, turning our eloquent speeches into spirit-filled words that penetrate right through the heart of man. His Book has been the best-seller for centuries, not ours. We must humble ourselves and be lowly in our minds, not thinking of ourselves more highly than we ought. Embrace Jesus! Be filled with His Spirit! Meditate on His words! Receive His mind! Share His Good News! Glory in Christ alone!

Prayer: Father God, I humble myself under Your mighty hand. Forgive me. It is because of You that I am who I am. Help me learn to embrace the lowly and meek heart and mind of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
