“Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:8a (NKJV)
“The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16b (NLT)
To see someone that you love appear as though they are gaining victory in an area of their life, only to watch them fall again, can be very hurtful. It can seem as though it hurts you more than it does the person, because you want so desperately to see them succeed and live a happy life. Maybe your family member suffers from an addiction and although it looked like they were making progress, you find that they have started using drugs again. Maybe your loved one has been incarcerated multiple times, and while you thought you finally got through to them, they end up back in jail again. Or just when you thought your son or daughter learned their lesson by now, you find that they run and get in trouble again. What do you do when the people you love repeatedly fall? You love them through it. You pray them through it. In the same way that God loves us and gives us chance after chance to get it right, we must do the same for others. Don’t become discouraged, and don’t lose hope. God is able to turn their lives completely around, and place them on a path that is purposeful and meaningful. However, it is our unfailing love and our heartfelt prayers that gives Him room to do just that!
Prayer: Father God, there are people in my life that are really struggling. I give them to You. You’re the only One that can cause real change in their lives. I pray that You cause their eyes to be opened, and they will see their need for You and receive You in their hearts. I pray that they are delivered from the power of darkness and are translated into the Kingdom Your Son. Draw them closer to You, and reveal to them Your purpose and plans for their life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
