“But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands…” Psalms 31:14-15, NIV
I’ve always heard how men experience this dreaded season called mid-life crisis that causes them to leave their families and marry some younger prettier woman. It causes them to change careers spontaneously and dress differently. The things men do during this time can break a woman’s heart. But we aren’t so different either. Women face the same transition halfway through our lives, where we examine our life with a super magnifying glass. What do we have to show for all of the time we’ve lived so far? Did we choose the right career path? Did we choose the right spouse? We have everything we could ever want, but we feel unfulfilled. We should be happy, but we’re not.
During this time, many of us think we’re losing our minds because all of a sudden nothing makes sense. To this, I totally can relate. But God provides some comfort to every transitioning woman. He says, our times and our seasons are in His hands. He knows every detail about our lives and He cares about the disappointments, questionings and deepest fears. He hears what we’re not saying and sees behind our lie that everything’s fine.
If this is where you are right now, know that you’re not alone. You’re transitioning to a new phase in life where you’re coming into yourself, and you’re seeing life from a new place. Let this fill you with excitement instead of terror. You’ve made mistakes that have taught you things you can share with others. You have something golden that others don’t have, and that’s experience. Go into this next phase gracefully. Embrace change. Take control of your life. Challenge yourself to grow and go further. It’s not too late for you!
Prayer: Lord, I thank You for speaking directly to my heart. You care for me so deeply. Help me God. I am in a place I’ve never been and I need You to guide me through this season of my life. Nothing makes sense. I should be happy, but I’m not. Help me take control of my life as You take control of me. Fill me with Your love and grace. I know You’re real, but I need to feel You close to me right now. Wrap Your arms around me. Let me know everything’s going to be ok. I am bewildered and scared, but I put my trust in You. You will never fail me and I love You. In Jesus name, Amen.
