Our Greatest Need

Posted on Posted in devotions

We love him, because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

God saw our need before we realized we had one.  It’s like someone fixing a bridge before you get to it, or someone bringing you medicine before you realize you are sick, or giving you an encouraging word before you experience the stressful day.  He is most in tuned to our needs, more than anyone else is on the planet. Our greatest need is not to be married, not to have children, not to have friends, or a successful business, or take a vacation, or anything else. Our greatest need is God. And He being fully aware of this sent His Son Jesus over 2,000 years ago so that our greatest need for salvation and a relationship with Him could be met. Every other need in our lives come from us drawing from our relationship with Him. A woman that has in her eyes, “You are my greatest need!” will cause people to run in the opposite direction.  Reset your gaze on your relationship with God. Let Him fill every void and satisfy you completely.  That way you won’t drain the life out of those around you, hoping to be filled, but you will add to them and enrich them because you are drawing from the well. Love Him because He first loved you.

Prayer: Father, thank You. You first loved me and You met my greatest need. I fix my gaze on You right now. Enrich me and fill every void in me. Keep my heart set on You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
