Peace in the Storm

Posted on Posted in devotions

When in the middle of any storm, there are sounds of loud thunder and lightening, the sounds of trees falling, and rain crashing down, but if we are in a house, we aren’t worried. We know we are protected. While sitting in the house, we simply wait for the storm to pass. When we are faced with storms in our lives, whether in our health, relationships, financially, etc, our emotions and fears can be all over the place and as loud and as destructive as any natural storm. In these times, we crave peace. Be comforted today in knowing that God is our peace. It is His will that we have peace and comfort right in the middle of any storm. Peace isn’t something that we can manufacture in our own strength. Some of us may have tried yoga and zen meditations only to find that it didn’t solve the problem. Only in returning to God and resting in Him are we saved. Let us receive by faith the peace of God today and choose to wait out the storm while we rest in His arms.

…Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength…” Isaiah 30:15 (NLT)

Father God,

I need Your peace. Not just today but everyday of my life. You didn’t bring me this far to leave me. You said You would always be there and Lord I need You today. I return to You and choose to rest in You. I don’t even know what living a life of resting in You looks like. Help me to stay in You while I wait out the storm. I love You and thank You. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
