Imagine an audience gawking at a Mr. Olympia that’s standing before them. As he flexes his muscles for the audience, the announcer says, “Yes! Look at him! Look at those muscles! He can bend a bow of steel! He can lift a van off of the ground! He is able to move an entire fleet of cargo! Yes! He is strong!” Then a doubtful audience member who is frustrated with the entire spectacle, yells “Prove it!” The crowd becomes silent and enraged at the audacity of the guy to question Mr. Olympia’s ability. “I mean look at him. He looks strong! Why does he have to prove anything?” Someone sitting next to him says. “Because I’m tired of the show. I want to see him do something!” he responds. Isn’t that where many of us are in life today? Tired of the show. It’s not that people doubt God’s ability or His awesome power, they just are desperate to see it in their life. We want to see Him heal our family member of cancer, save our rebellious son, free our mother of alcoholism, reunite our broken family, put an end to bullying in schools, and so many others things that tug at our hearts to see God change. So how does God respond to our desire for Him to prove Himself? How does He respond to our longing to see something tangible and real take place in our lives that we have never experienced before? He responds in love and compassion. He proved His love once and for all when He sent His only Son Jesus to die for our sins, so that we can have life on earth and for eternity. He proved His love when He raised Jesus up from the dead so that we can walk in newness of life. He proved His love when He gave us His Holy Spirit to work in our hearts and empower us. He already proved His immense love for all of mankind. There’s nothing more for Him to prove. It’s now our turn to prove we love Him and believe Him. Do the works He commanded you to do. Lay hands on the sick and watch them recover. Cast out devils. Preach to your family and watch them one day surrender their lives to the Lord. Get involved in the school system so God can use you to have a major impact. It’s time we show God how much we truly love Him by fulfilling our purpose, staying the course, doing the works of the ministry, and being a blessing in the earth. Daughters of the King, prove it!
“These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.” 1 Peter 1:7 (NLT)
You have already proved Your love to me. You sent Jesus to die for my sins. Then you raised Him up from the dead so that I can walk in newness of life. What an awesome display of love! Thank You. You don’t have to prove anything else. I know You love me. Now, I want to prove my love to You. I give You my life. I give You my heart. I give You everything I have. Take it and use it for Your glory! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
