Put Away Childish Things

Posted on Posted in devotions

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; now that I have become a man, I am done with childish ways and have put them aside.” 1 Corinthians 13:11 (AMP)

When Paul became a man, he put away childish ways. A real woman also puts away childish ways.  She puts away childish speaking.  If what she’s about to say isn’t true or necessary, she doesn’t say it.  A real woman puts away childish thinking.  She doesn’t get lost in a maze of wrong thinking that’s all centered around how she feels and what she wants.  She puts away childish reasoning.  She doesn’t make irrational decisions based on how she feels at the moment. Put away childish behavior, daughter of the King, and let God grow you into the woman He desires you to be.  A real woman is known by her love.  What is love?  “Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, doesn’t have a swelled head, doesn’t force itself on others, isn’t always “me first,” doesn’t fly off the handle, doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, doesn’t revel when others grovel, takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, puts up with anything, trusts God always, always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going to the end (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Message).”

Prayer: Father God, I choose to put away all childish behavior and be the woman You have called me to be. Develop in me Your character.  In Jesus Name. Amen.
