“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron.” 1 Timothy 4:1-2
The Spirit here prophecies from the time of the ascension of Christ to the time of judgment, that we will see some people that were once purely devoted to God depart from the faith, being mislead by seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. The Holy Spirit prophecies that they will speak lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron. They will denounce what God allows and allow what He forbids. With tears I write this pleading with you, the reader. Don’t let this be you. The Holy Spirit says “some”. Not all. That means that there is a remnant of people that won’t bow to the enemy. There remains a remnant that will lift up the banner of Jesus come hail or high water. Whether in season or out of season they will preach, and whether they’re in the valley or in a land of plenty they will worship God. There is a remnant of people that won’t let their situation silence them. There is a remnant of people that will proclaim the truth even if it makes them unpopular. There is a remnant that will stay hopelessly devoted to the cause of Christ no matter what they face. Are you part of this remnant? Or have your heart been mislead and hardened because someone hurt you, someone laid you off, or some injustice were done against you. So what! Quit whining about what’s not going right in your life! Put an end to your pity party! Stop living in guilt and shame! Get it together! Fix your eyes on Jesus! You are stronger than this! You were born for this! You are equipped to handle this! While some are departing, you must remain. Be determined to fulfill your purpose even if you have to eat Ramen noodles until Jesus returns. Be determined to stand even if you have to stand alone! Be determined to fight to the death! And even if you have to forgive your brother or sister for the same offense for the seventh time in the same day, be determined to forgive and love them. Be determined to win souls. This must be the resolution of your heart until you meet your Lord in the air.
Prayer: Yes Lord. I hear You and I receive this charge to my spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
