Speaking Within the Silence

Posted on Posted in devotions

As our children mature, the way we guide them evolves.  At a certain age, our kids no longer need us to walk them to their classrooms because they have learned to navigate their surroundings. By their teens, we no longer have to hold their hand to cross the street because they have learned to be cautious on their own. Once we conclude our children are mature enough, we have more mature conversations in preparation for their transition into adulthood. God is no different. At times, we are desperately seeking to hear from God regarding a situation in our life and all we seem to get back is silence. We are looking for a profound revelation or an audible voice to speak back and tell us where to go from here. Yet, time after time God reminds us that He can speak within the silence. Our answers can be found in letting go of our expectations of how God will answer and move forward into unknown territory with all that God has already taught us. That assumed silence, may just be God’s way of letting you know that you are transitioning into a higher level in Him. Yes, God can reassure us by providing miraculous circumstances that gives us clear direction, but many times, God can utilize the silence to put our faith into action. He needs us to walk by faith and believe who He is, without the signs and wonders. Ultimately, the silence is God letting go of our hands to walk in front of us, knowing we have learned at this point to confidently follow Him.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.” 1 Corinthians 13:11 (NIV)

Heavenly Father,
I thank you for helping me to build my faith in you. There are many things in my life I don’t understand, but I am going to trust you. I trust in your Word that says you are a good and faithful God and you will never leave or forsake me. I trust that as I step out on faith and walk not by sight, you will protect and lead me. You have done so much for me and I know you are more than able to handle what I am faced with today. I put my life in your hands. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
