“The Lord your God is with you, the mighty warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”- Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)
Our Faith has the power to set in motion all that God has already promised us. While reading Mathew 9, God revealed the contrasting stories of the woman with the issue of blood and the man desperately seeking Jesus for the healing of his dying daughter. Both moved on their belief that God can heal. For the woman who suffered her infirmity for 12 years, her healing was instantaneous as she merely touched Jesus’ clothing by faith and drew from him healing power. For the man, his desperation to find the man he heard could heal, requested for Jesus to touch his daughter. Both are stories of faith, two demonstrations of their relationship with Jesus. The woman acted in faith for her healing by barreling through the crowd and risking her life to touch Jesus. The man, in faith asked Jesus to act on behalf of his daughter by touching his daughter. For the man, Jesus walked with him to his home and was met with distractions as the news was delivered that the man’s daughter was already dead. Jesus continued walking with the man to his home and removed the people and the sounds of their doubts and mockeries from the home before he stepped in and commanded the daughter to awake. Jesus knew the scene wasn’t meant to be of death, but of an “awakening.” It was an intimate experience that only the man, his daughter and the select followers of Christ would witness in that season.
Be reminded that God wants a personal relationship with you and for some who are standing in faith, they find rapid restoration. For others, God allows situations to propel us towards him and develop an intimacy that he wants with every daughter and son of The King. He wants to remove some distractions to get to the root of your heart. He wants you to see how much you are loved by his miraculous power to heal. But, He wants you to take the walk with him. Despite what happens along the journey and what is being said, keep the faith in Jesus’ restoring power and allow him the intimacy he seeks while He walks with you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for loving me and wanting me to know you for myself. I ask that you strengthen my faith and deepen my relationship with you. Thank you for restoring me in every area of my life and existence. I believe in your power and I know that whatever I face, I have the victory in you. You are love and you never fail. I receive your love and the victory it gives me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
