Taste and See

Posted on Posted in devotions

Ever watched a child eat something they really enjoy?  They eat until every little crumb is gone, often getting their hands messy in the process as they run their fingers across the edges of the container to get the little remnants left behind.  They crave more and are determined to get their fill of that savory goodness.  God compels us to get a taste of Him and see that He is who He says He is in His written Word.  So many have turned away from God or have never known Him because they simply can’t understand how God can transform their situation.  They may be living under a veil of condemnation, feeling unworthy of His goodness; while others are apprehensive in reaching out to a God they cannot see.  Yet, God proclaims that just a taste will allow you to see.  Just a taste of His goodness can have you like little children, savoring every moment in His presence as you experience the joy and freedom that life in Him offers.  You will excitedly get your hands dirty just to experience a remnant of God’s Glory in your life and in the lives of others.  God offers you the “good life” that the world can never offer.  Taste and let your eyes and heart be opened to the goodness that God gives to us all.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” (Psalm 34:8 NIV)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come to you as a little child, ready to learn and curious.  I ask that you open my heart and grow my faith as you teach me your ways and who you are.  I believe that you already know my needs, my strengths and my weaknesses and I come to you as I am.  Show me what I need to see Father. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
