You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7 (NIV)
Pray to Him while He may be found (verse 6).
It is so very easy to think that we will wake up tomorrow. We take life for granted.
A friend of mine unexpectedly lost her husband this past weekend. She went to sleep without concern that he might not be alive the next morning. Yet, in the profound pain of loss, there is the peace of knowing that, years before, her husband prayed for God’s salvation. He prayed while he was still able to find God.
It is very difficult to bring sinful humans to humbly to accept free mercy, but what rejoicing in both heaven and earth when they do!
Now is the time, dear sisters! Don’t wait thinking to yourself, “I’ll repent tomorrow,” because there is no guarantee tomorrow will come!
The true and only way to peace in this life and the next is to confess our sins that they may be forgiven. When we do this, God sets our feet upon solid ground, so “the rising of the mighty waters will not reach” us (verse 6). He shelters us, protects us, provides Himself as our hiding place.
The effect of sin can leave lasting marks upon us, body and mind. But when we allow Him to break those strongholds, God applies the healing balm of His Spirit. He surrounds us “with songs of deliverance” (verse 7).
A heart that is softened by grief and burdened with guilt can find peace in repentance and forgiveness. Seek the Lord in prayer and through His Word, and find rest for your troubled soul. His promise is salvation and deliverance—and He keeps His promises.
Prayer: Dear Lord, You are my hiding place. You protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of deliverance and I praise Your holy name! Forgive me for my sins—I long to be made whole in You. Thank You for Your mercy, Father. Thank You for Your peace which fills me, Your protection which shelters me, and Your love which saves and delivers me. Amen.
