The Have’s And The Have-Not’s
“Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:3-4 (NIV)
Often times being pressured for worldly success, people become goal-oriented, career conscience and the focus moves from functioning within the will of God to having things. We were designed not just to focus on a task, but also to operate with Godly vision. Although financial and professional success is highly obtainable and expected in the body of Christ, it requires you to first seek the Kingdom of God for direction and be committed to stand steadfast in God’s plans for your life. If we buckle under pressure by the directives of worldly-defined success, we risk becoming a have-not. Having or not having tangible things should never sway your pure comfort in the sovereignty of God. We should be so mindful of His hand continuously at work. Nothing should be worth the risk of dismantling the protective covering God so earnestly provides.
Nurturing your personal relationship with God gives you the greatest pleasure and satisfaction. This is “delighting” yourself in the Lord. This very relationship allows you to have peace, joy, contentment, and love, which are things money cannot buy. Additionally, this relationship allows you to be grateful and find fullness in what you do have. The fruits of His Spirit will also truly manifest in your life. The Bible tells us in Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Manifestation of the fruits of His Spirit are important to your spiritual growth and is also evidence to others which side of the road you stand on, no matter where the storms of life hit.
While you are waiting on desires to come to pass, or you are in a storm, continue to flourish, love and soar like an eagle! Be encouraged to delight yourself in the Lord – daily. No matter where you find yourself, don’t ever let it be outside of this, for this is the will of God. You are always a have, not a have-not, because you have Him. He has great plans for you!
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your divine purpose. I will delight in You. Thank You for giving me what my heart needs, which is your love, grace and mercy, even when I seek it not. Please allow me to fall in line with your ordered steps, so that there may be manifestations of your restoration and redemption in my life. Please continue to direct me to always focus my life, my mind, and my goals, on what matters most, which is You and my salvation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
