The Help of God

“These are the numbers of armed warriors who joined David at Hebron. They were all eager to see David become king instead of Saul, just as the LORD had promised.” (1 Chronicles 12:23 NLT)

Whenever we cry out to God for help, He provides so much more than strength to make it. Before David was crowned king of Israel, God sent thousands of men with a perfect heart, men who were experts of war, who had faces like lions, who ran fast, who were valiant men of valor, and who understood God’s plan, all in order to help David receive the crown. You would have thought that David didn’t need any help, and if God wanted him to be king, he would be king no matter what. However, God sent thousands of quality men to surround him, protect him, aid him and induct him into royalty. The quality of people God sends into your life speaks volumes of the quality He is developing within you. Are the people in your life strong and mighty? Are they fearless and bold as a lion? Do they seem to be the closest thing to a perfect angel? Are they excellent in character and wise? What a blessing it is when God places these kind of people in your life! They are there for a divine purpose, to help bring out the best in you. Rather than measuring yourself against them, thank God for them and let them help you fulfill your God-given purpose.

Prayer: Father, thank You for every person You have placed in my life to help me reach Your divine purpose for my life. Show me how to help my husband in the way he needs it. Give me wisdom on how to bring out the best in my children. Show me how to help my friends fulfill Your purpose for their lives. Show me how to help my church accomplish its purpose in the earth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
