“Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” (John 15:8 KJV)
There was a man that was preparing to leave for a long journey. Before he left, he chose to give to his three servants some money. He gave each one a different amount according to their ability to manage it. He then left for a long while, trusting that his servants would produce with what was given to them. When he returns, he is blessed to see that two of his servants has double what they were given. However, He was upset with the last servant because he didn’t produce anything. The master called him wicked, slothful and sent him into outer darkness. Some might think that’s unfair, but this is no different from how we operate today. Your employer can call you into the office and tell you they are going on a long trip, and they want you to temporarily run the company for a number of years. When they return, if they find that the company has not moved forward but is in the same state it was in before they left, you will lose your job. Companies are in business to make money–not just exist! God is in your lives not just so you can enjoy salvation, but so that you win the world around you. Don’t be like the unprofitable servant. Use the talents and gifts God has given you, don’t be lazy. Put to work the grace He has given you, don’t waste it. Obey His call on your life, don’t ignore it. Share the gospel of the kingdom of God with others, don’t be silent. Produce for the kingdom of God before the Lord returns.
Prayer: Father, You have saved me and called me for such a time as this. Thank You for reminding me to be productive in my life. It doesn’t glorify you when I sit idle and produce nothing. You have given me everything I need to produce a great harvest for You. People are your heartbeat and I choose to make them mine. I choose to glorify You and bear much fruit, reaching as many lives as you desire for me to, all for Your kingdom and glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
