“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” Psalms 16:11, NKJV.
When we want a boost of energy, some of us drink coffee. When we want to feel relaxed, some of us drink warm tea. Personally, I’m a tea drinker myself. Coffee tends to make me feel anxious and jittery—even the decaffeinated kind. However, I find it interesting that there are many times I want the relaxation that tea brings me, but I don’t always find the time to enjoy it. It’s my own laziness and forgetfulness. Walking into the kitchen, I glance at my special mug and walk right out. Then when trouble comes, I run to my special mug and prepare for myself something that will help me relax.
Our attitude can be much the same way when it comes to prayer. We know the effects it has on our lives and how it can lift every burden, destroy every stronghold and fill us with peace, yet we only cry out to God when we’re in trouble. One moment with the Lord can change everything. Don’t wait until you are in a crisis to call on Him, treat yourself to His presence all of the time.
Prayer: Thank you Father for speaking to my heart. I want a deeper relationship with you that go beyond coming to you when I’m in trouble. I want to know You better. So I come to You now and I receive Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
