What Jesus Did For You

“And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:8

Jesus could have numbed Himself from all of the pain He felt as the Roman soldiers ripped through His flesh while beating Him almost to the point of death. He could have become angry at everyone and sent a legion of angels to destroy them all, but instead, He said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” He could have died after only six minutes on the cross. Instead, He allowed Himself to suffer for six grueling hours. He allowed Himself to feel every lash, every thorn crushing down into His skull, and the 7 to 9 inch nails piercing through. He felt the wood rubbing against His torn skin as He carried it on His shoulders. He allowed Himself to be mocked and spit on. He allowed His flesh to be broken and beaten until He was unrecognizable. He allowed it all. And why? Because He loves us. To Him, all of humanity was worth it. His death removed our sin. His wounds made us whole. His resurrection gave us new life!

Prayer: Thank you LORD for your sacrifice for me. You didn’t have to do it, but I’m so glad you did. I receive your saving grace all over again. I receive your love and your forgiveness for my sin. I receive the healing you sacrificed to give me. I receive and walk in new life. Help me to not keep this to myself but be a bold witness for your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
