When Dealing with Difficult Personalities

Posted on Posted in devotions

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

What do you do when you genuinely do not like someone? They are mean and harsh, push all your buttons, and are hard to befriend. Maybe you’ve tried to like them, but they are being difficult and very hard to love.

I know what it feels like to be in this kind of situation, because I’m in it now. Usually I like to write about an experience after I’ve come through it, but now I write while I’m still in it. God is teaching me how to trust Him even when He’s having me be somewhere that is unpleasant. If I say He lives in me, I must show it. If I say I love Him and love His people, I must show it. My faith is being tested and my love is being tried. But I thank God! He is with me through it all. Life is not always pleasant, but God has promised me peace in the midst of it all. He is our peace.

Realize that people around you don’t have to change in order for you to have inner peace. You may be in a storm right now dealing with difficult personalities, but God will give you peace right in the midst of it. Don’t give people power and control over your emotions. You’re smarter than that! Let God’s peace flood you right now as you look to Him.

Confession: I pronounce a blessing of supernatural joy and peace over my mind and heart now. The Lord is my help and my strength. I will sing the song He puts in my spirit and I will give a real praise from my mouth. I will look to Jesus, He is the author and finisher of my faith. With His help, everything is going to be alright. God will vindicate me and I will wait for His vindication. He will be glorified in the outcome. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
