When God Says Wait

Posted on Posted in devotions

“For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” Hebrews 10:36

A man once purchased a very expensive car with a high monthly payment.  He drove it around for a week and enjoyed every minute of cruising in that car. After a week, he began to hear Holy Spirit say, “I didn’t tell you to get this car. Take it back.”  Then later his wife came to him and said, “This car is too expensive for us right now. Take it back.” He didn’t want to return the car, but he knew his wife and Holy Spirit were right.  So he went back to the dealer, dropped off the car and the keys.  The dealer said, “You can’t do this!  You already signed the contract and have been driving it for a week.  This car is yours.”  The man replied, “Sorry, I made a mistake. I can’t keep this car.”  He then handed over the keys and left.  Two years later as he and his wife were busy pursuing God’s will for their life, they received a phone call from a couple that felt led to bless them with the same expensive car.  They were given the keys, the title and they couldn’t believe it.  Anytime God tells you to wait, He is preparing something great for you. When we rush ahead of God, we pay a great price.  It’s not worth it.  God enjoys blessing His children, but His children must line up their will with His, wanting only what He wants them to have.  Don’t be envious of what someone else has.  God will bless you with what He wants you to have. It will be His perfect will for you.  Wait with a smile because He’s making it good and worth your wait.

Prayer: Father, thank You for everything You have already done in my life.  I am blessed. I sit in anticipation like a child, waiting to see what I have been believing You for.  Thank You for what You have prepared for me to receive. I love You.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
