When It Becomes One-Sided

Posted on Posted in devotions

He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalms 126:6 (KJV)

Maybe it’s a relationship, a friendship or an organization that you have devoted so much time and energy into and you have found yourself giving but never receiving anything in return. Spending all of your time carrying a one-sided relationship will leave you exhausted. Maybe you are exerting all of your energy serving in a ministry that is not proving to help you grow spiritually, help you get into your purpose, or minister to your total man. God’s blessings always benefit you just as much as it benefits the other person. As apparent as it may be, it is still wise to pray and seek God before moving on. Not only pray about whether you should move on, but when and how. People may feel hurt, but when you move on the way God tells you to, He can prepare their hearts and the pain of losing you will be less severe. Once you obey God, you may feel like a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders and now you can truly live. God can then bring into your life relationships, a church home, and things that will greatly bless you just as much as you are a blessing to it.

Prayer: Thank You for Your wisdom. I receive it into my heart and ask that You show me the areas of my life that are not blessing me in return but draining life from me. Give me the courage to move on and receive what You have for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
