“If you love me, obey my commandments.” John 14:15
Both “love” and “obedience” are synonymous terms with God.
Why did Jesus feel it necessary to tell His disciples, “If you love me, obey my commandments”? Hadn’t they shown their love for Him by dropping everything in their lives to follow Him? However, these words were issued to help prepare the disciples for the days ahead. Jesus knew the day would come when their love for Him would be put to the ultimate test.
God knows your knowledge of His love will be put to the ultimate test in this day and hour. For this reason, He gave you the Helper, which is the Holy Ghost, to help you.
No matter how it looks, no matter how it feels and no matter how it sounds in your hearing, let God’s Truth be your guide. Let His Word settle every issue in your life. Receive the help of the Holy Spirit and let His grace abound toward you. What you haven’t been able to do in your own flesh, God will strengthen you to do.
Say out loud with all your heart,
“Lord I love You with everything me and I receive the help of Your Holy Spirit to obey Your every command. I will do what You say because I love You more than anything and I know You love me.”
