Worship God Alone

Who do you love more than anything?  What consumes your thoughts, fills the space in your heart, and receives all of your time, energy, and focus?  Is it your marriage?  We are to always look for ways to improve our marriages.  However, when it stays on our mind 24/7 and we find that we are constantly expending energy trying to love our spouse or get him to love us, it has become something that’s not of God.  Is it your career?  We are to pursue to advance in our industry of effectiveness.  However, when we are willing to step on whoever to get ahead and everything in our lives revolve around what we do rather than who we are, it has become something that’s not of God.  Is it your children?  God gives us children to love and raise.  However, when we are consumed with thoughts about their life, fearful over their choices, and spending all of our time trying to shape them into what we want them to be, our love for them has turned into something that’s not of God.  This is dangerous because only God is to be worshiped and adored in our lives–not a spouse, a baby, a company, a home, a car, or a friend.  Only He should completely consume our thoughts more than anything or anyone.  The trick of the enemy is to get our hearts to turn away from God.  If our hearts, minds, and soul turn away from God and something else takes His place on the throne of our lives, then the devil has an open door to bring destruction.  We are most safe, secure, and preserved when our hearts and mind stay centered on God.  We must keep Him in His rightful place in our lives, seated on the throne of our hearts, which was created for God alone.

I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.” “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.” (Matthew 4:9-10 NLT)

You are the only true and living God. I repent for not keeping You on the throne of my heart.  I cast down every idol, every thing, every person that I have exalted above You.  Sit on the throne of my heart.  Consume my thoughts and flood my heart.  I turn back to You and I worship You alone.  In Jesus name, Amen.
