Yes, Daddy is King

And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.” Matthew 12:25 (KJV)

Whenever my children get into trouble, my husband will let them know what privilege they have lost for the day or what treat they can’t have.  They are small kids and so taking away these small privileges can be heartbreaking for them at their age.  When my husband gives the command, they always come running to me saying, “Mommy, can I have it?” I respond with, “What did Daddy say?”  They then walk away with their head down.  I always let them know that their father’s words are higher than mine and that I can’t change it.  As they grow, they are learning that Daddy is king of this castle and what he says goes.  This brings order to our home and helps our children learn to respect the commands of a father, which will also help them respect God’s commands as they get older. In so many homes, the father says one thing and the mother comes along and say something different.  Which command should the children obey?  We have a world with many children who are confused and don’t know what to believe or what to do.  God is not the final authority in their lives as adults, because no one had final authority in the home.  One of the most powerful yet underestimated forces in the universe is a husband and wife team that are submitted to God and operate as one in the home.

Prayer: Father, I pray that You bring unity and oneness in my home.  I pray my husband and I submit to Your ultimate authority and our children learn submit to us.  In Jesus Name, Amen.

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
