“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” Ephesians 1:4
Maybe they didn’t choose you for the job position. Maybe he didn’t choose you to be his wife. Maybe that elite group of people didn’t choose to welcome you into their prestigious circle. They didn’t choose you, but God has. You are chosen by God, selected, picked out, and chosen as His own and for His own purpose. Way before you made the decision to choose the Lord, He chose you. Before the foundation of the world and before you were formed in your mother’s womb, He chose you. Before you said your first words and took your first step, God chose you. He knew that one day you would be His daughter and He would be your God. Why you? He wanted someone to bless, someone to grace, someone to empower, someone to strengthen and someone to be a brilliant light in a dark world. He wanted someone to love and express His love through. There was nothing you did that made you stand out from the rest. “Yes, this is why God chose me.” You’ll never be able to say that. Sin covered you from birth, making you filthy from head to toe. Even in your wisest state you were foolish. But God saw straight through the filth. He saw you and He chose you to be made righteous through Christ and to receive a rich inheritance. When you receive the fact that He has chosen you, it will grace you to keep choosing Him in return. You will keep choosing life, keep choosing His ways, and His wisdom as you receive the truth that He first chose you.
Prayer: Father God, thank You for choosing me, selecting me, and picking me to love and grace. There was nothing I did to deserve it. All I can do is receive it and thank You for it. Now grace me to choose You, Your ways and Your truth with the same intensity that You have chosen me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
