Do you recall the movies where the superhero falls in love with a woman? The hero longs to be with her so that he forgets the reason he came to earth in the first place. Maybe you have that someone or something that you have fallen in love with. Maybe the things of the world has taken hold of your heart, turned your attention away from God, and are consuming your thoughts. Maybe it’s a man, a career, an addiction, or a group of friends that you have started to party with that has caused you to forget who you are and what you are here to do. We are living in a day where many have packed up their suitcase and left their first Love. They once loved God with all of their heart and wanted nothing more than to please Him. However, over the course of their lives, they allowed their hearts to be turned away. Many of us experience days when we don’t feel like putting on our capes and saving the world. We can find it difficult to always be the one having to stand up for what’s right. However, it’s not about our feelings. It’s about remembering our assignment. You are here to save the world, not fall in love with the things in it. You are here to let your light shine, not hangout in the darkness. What’s encouraging is that by the end of the movie, the hero saves the world, defeats the villain, and says goodbye. Reality settles in and he now sees that his assignment and purpose is more important than his attraction. Reality must set in for us. We are passing through and our lives here are temporary. Let us remember that we are the redeemed of the Lord and His beloved daughters. Let us be reminded that we serve a God that is All Powerful, living, true and is always with us. Let us remember we are here to save the world, to pray for the sick and hurting, to use our gifts for God’s glory, and cause an invisible Kingdom to become clearly seen in our lives!
“Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.” 2 Timothy 2:3-4 (NLT)
Thank you for reminding me of who I am, who You are in my life, and the reason I am here. Thank You for always showing me that You are right here with me. Thank you that Your Spirit lives within me to constantly remind me of what’s most important. I pray that those who have turned away from You and who have chosen the things of this world over You, that they return back to You. I pray You wipe their slate clean and give them a fresh start. I pray they are filled with life and love and go out in the world share You with others. Help us stay focused. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
