“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” Matthew 5:14
One day a man walked up to me saying, “You changed my life.” I didn’t remember him right away, but he remembered me. I said “Does anyone ever tell you that you look like that guy from “Save the Last Dance”? He just smiled. “You don’t remember me do you?” he said. I immediately recognized him. I met him in the darkest place of my life. He was the guard in front of my hospital room. His job was to watch and protect me from myself. God used me to impact his life and encourage him even though I felt I needed all of the encouragement I could get. But here he stood in front of me saying how I changed his life. I was speechless. All I could do was look up at heaven. God knows how to remind you that He lives within you. Even in your dark places, when you feel you have nothing to say to anyone, grace speaks for you. When you feel like you have nothing to give, grace presents a handful. When you feel your light isn’t shining at all, He shines the brightest. When Jesus said you are the light of the world, He meant it. And whether you are penniless, sick, in trouble, down and out, or at your lowest point, no matter the place you are in you are impacting a life with the light of Jesus. You are a city set on a hill. You can’t be hidden even in dark places. You shine.
Prayer: Father, I love you more than anything. Thank You for allowing me to touch someone’s life even in my darkest places in life. Your light faithfully shines in me no matter where I am. Thank You. Only a loving God can make that possible. Keep shining in me. Be glorified in this vessel of clay. In Jesus name, Amen.
